Ysanne Spevack studied composition, conducting and violin at the Royal College of Music, London in the 1980s and uses this classical conservatoire training for an extremely diverse output that spans music for orchestra and choir for rock, pop, EDM, TV and film scores.
Ysanne's strings and vocal harmonies have graced the world's most esteemed artists from pretty much every genre, including Elton John, Tiesto, and Christina Perri, who she toured with throughout the USA. She recorded for Tilda Swinton, Cat Powers, and Michael Stipe, composed music for TV and games, two movie soundtracks (including one for Aaron Eckhart), and music for MoMA, ENO, Peter Sellars, and Laurie Anderson, but she is best known for her work with The Smashing Pumpkins.
She has been arranging and composing music for over two decades, conducting and recording symphony orchestras, and has shared studio time with the world's most cherished artists in the USA, Europe and Asia. Her multi-discipline collaborations include her compositions for movies, commercials, live theater, opera and dance. She has lived in the USA since 2004.
Ysanne is currently composing music presented within an immersive sensory experience. It's called YNTEGRITY, and is the latest in a long line of solo music from her first album released in 1996 to her most recent 2013 solo release, The Mermaid Song. She conducted The City of Prague Symphony Orchestra for that project, and sold 24,000 copies in an innovative brand and non-profit partnership.
Her YNTEGRITY experiences launched in New York City in September 2016, combining her philosophy and music with music from celebrated guest songwriters Billy Corgan and Shepard Fairey's band NØISE. The experience is featured in Huffington Post, Yahoo! News, Cool Hunting, and in international newspapers from the UK to Singapore.
Ysanne presented a TEDxTalk in May 2017.
She is currently composing music for film and TV, including her recent original soundtrack for a Chanel commercial for their 'Gabrielle' bag, which was directed and illustrated by Jo Ratcliffe.
